Morello Powers Roadrunners to Doubleheader Sweep of County College of Morris

Left-fielder Lorenzo Morello collected three hits and five RBIs to lead a five-run outburst in the second inning and four each in the fifth and sixth innings as the Roadrunner baseball team hammered County College of Morris 14-2 Sunday to completed a sweep of a Region XIX doubleheader at home.

Designated hitter Alex Gattinelli added three hits while first sacker Anthony Angelino contributed three RBIs to help Coach Rob Valli's team improve

Right hander Mike Biasiello, a former Kingsway standout, earned the win, scattering six hits and fanning eight in five innings of work.

In Game 1, Morello ripped a two-run single while teammates Connor VanDine and Jose Correa also knocked in runs as the Runners claimed a 4-1 victory. Correa finished with two hits on the afternoon.

Winning pitcher Nick Evangelista gave up just six hits while striking out 10 in seven innings to raise his record to 3-0. He faced just 28 batters.

The Runners continue a key week of Region and Conference action with home games against Rowan Burlington Tuesday, Camden County College Thursday and Brookdale Community College Saturday.
