Morello, Gattinelli Spark Offense as Roadrunners Topple Camden County College

When the bats are hot, they are hot! Left-fielder Lorenzo Morello slammed a home run and double and drove in four runs while catcher Alex Gattinelli added three hits and two RBIs to lift the Roadrunners to a 17-7 Region XIX victory over visiting Camden County College on Thursday.

RCGC, 17-3 overall and No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Rankings, broke open a 6-3 lead with a six-run outburst in the fourth inning. The Cougars (17-7)  crept to within 12-7, but the Runners added five more runs over the seventh and eighth innings to seal the win.

Ryan Murphy, Anthony Angelino and Dauri Genaro also chipped in with two RBIs apiece for RCGC. Joe Marino was the winning pitcher with two innings of work while closer Jose Ledesma picked up his second save, striking out five over the final three innings.

The Runners will host Brookdale County Community College in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 12 noon.
