Roadrunners Baseball advances in Region XIX playoffs by sweeping two-game series vs. Middlesex, 8-0 and 12-4 Saturday at home.
Sophomore Alex Gattinelli had a key RBI in bottom of the sixth inning to help the Runners extend Game 1 lead to 4-0 at that point. Steve Brookwell reached base five times, contributing a double and two singles. Winning pitcher Mike Biasello scattered three hits and struck out 8 in six innings.
In Game 2, the Runners raced to a 6-2 lead and finished strong for the 12-4 win. Jose Correa collected a double, home run and four RBIs to spark the offense. Nick Evangelista earned the win in relief of starting pitcher Nick Yoder.
RCGC advances to the Region XIX Final Four vs. Northampton County, which swept its series over Bergen CC.
The Region XIX Final Four Tournament will be held the weekend of May 18-19.
