Men's Soccer Falls to Howard CC

Men's Soccer Falls to Howard CC
Against a nationally ranked opponent the RCGC men's soccer team let one slip away Saturday. The Roadrunners dropped a 6-3 decision to visiting Howard Community College (MD), but the outcome could have been much different.

RCGC's Dylan Skidmore scored the opening goal in the second half to move the Runners to within 2-1, but it all fell apart quickly. Howard scored two goals on penalty kicks and benefitted from a goal deflected in by a Roadrunner player to roll to a 6-1 lead.

Forward Ryan Flaherty helped the Roadrunners finish strong with two late goals, but it wasn't enough.

"We need to focus on playing together and geting in sync," said head coach George Hobbins. "We basically spotted a good opponent three goals with the two penalty kicks and letting in the one goal. These are things that can be corrected easily through communication and unifying ourselves as a team."

The Roadrunners (0-2) next face Delaware County on the road Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm, and hope to pick up their first win in the young season.
