GAME DAY: Roadrunner Men's Soccer Edges Manor College in Home Opener

After exploding offensively in an opening day win, the Roadrunner men's soccer team struggled to put the ball in the net vs, visiting Manor College Thursday afternoon.

But it all ended well thanks to a second half goal by midfielder Brandon Daisey, who was assisted by Justin Phy, as the Runners came away with a close 1-0 triumph.

The win improved RCSJ Gloucester's record to 2-0 overall.

Freshmen Connor Rink and James Bartolotto split goalkeeping duties for the shutout while Tyler Liberkowski, Chris Jackson and Jake Fazi played well defensively to help out.

The Runners scored multiple goals in a 7-0 win over Penn State Lehigh Valley on August 31, but ran into a tougher opponent in yesterday's home opener.

"We made it closer than it should have been," said Coach George Hobbins. "We didn't play well offensively except for some spots in the second half. We did hold our own on defense and that was the key to the win -- and it is nice to start the season at 2-0."

The Roadrunners will face another tough opponent on the road Saturday in a 12 noon start at Sussex County Community College before hosting Camden County College on September 10.
