NJCAA National Tennis Championships: Runners Win Six Opening-Round Matches to Highlight Day 1

The Region XIX champion Roadrunner men's tennis team enjoyed a solid opening day during Friday's NJCAA Tennis Championships in PeachTree, GA.

Emerging with Day 1 wins in the singles rounds were No. 1 singles Mark Gladkyy, No. 3 J.P. Ciliberto, No. 4 Jake Carlson, No. 5 Zach Carr, and No. 6 Tate Merlino. Sophomore Paulo Claure fell in a hard-fought No. 2 singles match.

Claure bounced back and teamed with Ciliberto to win their No. 2 doubles opening round match.

"We had a good opening day overall," said head coach Brian Rowan. "We did enough to hopefully get into the top 3 overall if we can win a few more over the next couple days. The coaching staff is proud of everyone's efforts."

The Runners prep for Day 2 on Saturday. Follow all of the results here at www.rcroadrunners.com.
