Brian Rowan was appointed the Executive Director for Athletics for RCGC in July 2016, assuming the position from retired AD Ron Case. He enters the position with a long and distinguished history of service to RCGC both as an administrator and a coach. The Gloucester County native, who takes over one of the nation’s most successful Junior College athletic programs, is excited to begin his tenure.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I am excited to get started,” said Rowan. “I have been lucky enough to work under an outstanding athletic administrator in Ron Case and our program is in position to have a lot of success right away. We have a really strong coaching staff in place and a history of success on the regional and national level. My job will be to promote Roadrunner Athletics and to make sure our coaches and athletes have everything they need in order to be successful.”

In his administrative role as Assistant AD, Rowan helped to usher in the most successful period in the history of Roadrunner Athletics. Since his arrival in 2008, the Roadrunners have won 14 NJCAA Division III national championships spread out over seven sports. The college won its first ever NATYCAA Cup for overall athletics success at the two-year level in 2010 and repeated that success in 2011, 2012, and 2013. In 2012-2013, the college was awarded the prestigious Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup for the best overall two-year athletic program in the country. Rowan currently serves as a member of the Sports Information Committee for NJCAA Region 19 and is the President of the NJCAA Men's Tennis Coaches Association.

Rowan came to Gloucester County College (now RCGC) in 2005 as the head men’s tennis coach. He led the men's tennis team to its first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III national championship in 2010 and followed that with national crowns in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Under coach Rowan's leadership, the men's tennis program has produced 26 NJCAA All-Americans and 13 individual NJCAA national champions.

Rowan has also served as the head women’s tennis coach and led that program to two NJCAA Division III national championships in 2012 and 2013. He was also an assistant with the women’s basketball program.

Prior to joining the RCGC full-time staff, he spent four seasons as the men’s tennis coach while teaching history and coaching the boys’ varsity basketball team at Triton Regional High School in Runnemede, NJ. Rowan also held posts as the boys’ varsity tennis coach and assistant football coach while at Triton.

Rowan earned his associate’s degree from Gloucester County College in the spring of 1997, when he was a member of both the men’s basketball and tennis teams. He continued his basketball career at Rutgers University-Camden where he earned a B.A. in History. In 2005, Rowan earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. Rowan graduated from Gateway Regional High School in 1994 and currently resides in Blackwood, NJ with his wife and two daughters Hailey and Hannah. In his spare time, Rowan is an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), helping to raise money for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
