Solid Exhibition by RCGC Thrower's at the Kutztown Last Chance Qualifier

RCGC's top Throwers traveled to Kutztown for an exhibition in their last indoor competition for the season. Three sophomores Emily Hilt, Elisia Lancaster and Adam Hunt competed in both the Shot Put and Weight Throw against a saturated field of DII competition as well as a few DIII and unattached Throwers. Competing in the exhibition allowed the three RCGC athletes to highlight their abilities in front of multiple DII coaches interested in recruiting them and they did not disappoint.

On the Men's side Adam Hunt would start the competition with the Weight Throw. Unseeded Hunt would enter into the competition having only ever trained with a 35 lb. plate and one previous competition. Depsite never having a 35 lb. weight to train with Hunt embraced the unconventional training method and would apply it successfully. On his third throw and sitting last with two previous fouls Hunt would revert to a two turn and unleash a 15.11 m throw to qualify for finals. Entering finals he would maintain and ultimately finsih 6th place in the competition behind four NCAA DII and one DIII Throwers. This mark unofficially qualified Hunt for the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships with the 21st best mark in the country against NJCAA DI schools and the top mark for all NJCAA DIII Throwers nationally. In the Shot - Put Hunt would finish 8th overall with a modest toss of 14.64 m's.

On the Women's side the dynamic duo of Emily Hilt and Elisia Lancaster represented the RCGC Women's Track & Field team and in commanding fashion. Hilt continued to excel in the Weight Throw hitting 14.86 m's which was a personal best by a meter and finished fourth behind her own teamate Lancaster and two NCAA DII Throwers. Hilt's mark unofficaly qualified her for the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships tied with the 20th best mark in the country against NJCAA DI schools and the second best mark vs. all NJCAA DIII Throwers only behind her teamate. Lancaster would dominate the Weight Throw winning by over a meter to go 17.34 m's only 6 cm's under her PR. In the Shot Put Hilt and Lancaster would exchange places as Lancaster would finish second with an Indoor Season best of 12.63 m's which qualified her for the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships with the 15th best mark in the country against NJCAA DI schools and number two vs. all NJCAA DIII Throwers nationally only behind her teamate, Hilt. Capturing the win with her second best throw ever, Hilt would go 12.85 m's and remained ranked 10th in the nation having already qualified for the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.

The RCGC Track & Field Teams now set their sights on the Outdoor season which they will kick off at the Lloyd Singler Opener hosted by Salisbury University.
