Roadrunners Split Games on Second Day of Spring Trip

Roadrunners Split Games on Second Day of Spring Trip

Roadrunner Softball picked up the win they needed on their second day of play on their Spring Trip as they defeated Suffolk CC in a morning contest. The Roadrunners second win over the Sharks on the trip was a key win over an NJCAA Division III rival and should give the team confidence for when they return and play a majority of non-scholarship programs.

Sophomore Jackie Lesher pitched a complete game allowing just five hits and two earned runs in her most impressive outing of the season. Lesher moved to 3-1 on the year with the win.

Lesher helped herself by going 2-4 at the plate with 2 RBI's. Freshman Olivia Farina did the same and continued to be among the top bats for the Roadrunners early this season. Mackenzie Ponto chipped in two RBI's as well with a double and sacrifice fly.

The Roadrunners did the majority of their damage with a 7-run first inning and then added one addtional run each in the second and sixth innings.

In their second game of the day, the Roadrunners took on St. Louis CC. The game was tied 2-2 heaing into the bottom of the 4th inning when SLCC took the lead for good scoring single runs in both the 4th and 5th then five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Next up, the Roadrunners will take on St. Louis CC again on Sunday morning at 9am.
