Ponto Home Run Lifts Roadrunners Past Monroe College as Teams Split Twinbill

Mackenzie Ponto belted a two-run home run while Miranda Booras and Mackenzie Long each added RBIs to lift the Roadrunner softball team past Monroe College (NY) 6-4 in Game 1 of a doubleheader Sunday on the road.

Ponto's blast highlighted a four-run fourth inning as the Runners rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead. They then added single runs in the fifth and sixth inning to build a 6-3 lead before holding off the home team in the seventh.

Jackie Lesher went the distance, allowing six hits and striking out three over seven innings to improve her record to 5-2 overall.
In Game 2, Mackenzie Freas, Lesher and Olivia Farina each cracked home runs, but it wasn't enough as Monroe rallied for a 7-6 win with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

RCGC (7-7 overall) has the coming week due to spring break at school, and will travel to Lackawanna College for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 31.
