Weekend Wrap: Booras Leads Sweep of Sussex County, Lesher Stars vs. Bergen

After being honored along with several teammates for earning top GPA's on RCGC's softball team, shortstop Miranda Booras and teammate Jackie Lesher proved Saturday why they are two of Region XIX's premier performers on the field as well.

Booras, a former Delsea standout, who was honored on National Student Athlete Day on Friday, returned to the field the following day, collecting four hits and six RBI's to lead a sweep of host Sussex Community College. Lesher and teammate Mackenzie Ponto led the charge in a doubleheader sweep Sunday over Bergen by scores of 8-0 and 14-1.

Against, Sussex Saturday, the Runners swept a twinbill by scores of 4-0 and 18-2, and Booras played a major role offensively.

Winning pitcher Jackie Lesher went the distance, scattering seven hits and striking out seven to raise her record to 7-4.
