No. 6 Roadrunner Softball Emerges with Key Wins in Sweep of No. 3 Lehigh-Carbon

Roadrunner softball emerged with a pair of statement victories in their showdown at home versus Lehigh-Carbon in a battle of NJCAA Division III national powers!

Led by pitcher Jaclyn Lesher, the Runners, No. 6 in the NJCAA Division III National Rankings, swept No. 3 Lehigh Carbon by scores of 6-2 and 5-4 in a key Region XIX battle.

Lesher emerged the winner in Game 1 and then followed with solid relief work in Game 2 to secure the pair of wins.

In Game 2, sophomore pitcher Gia Cerminaro earned the win, scattering five hits in five inning. Lesher closed out with 2 innings of relief work, allowing just one run.

Mackenzie Long and Olivia Farina led the offensive assault with two hits each to help the Runners win their 11th in a row and improve to 21-9 overall. Cerminaro also added two key RBIs.

In Game 1, Lesher hurled seven strong innings, allowing one earned run and striking out seven to earn the win.

The Runners snapped a 2-2 tie by scoring four runs in the bottom on the fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead. Hadley Cressman struck a big blow with a two-run single in the frame. Earlier shortstop Miranda Booras and catcher Macenzie Long had RBI hits.

Coach Steve DePasquale's team will continue with a tough opponent on Sunday when they play Suffolk County (NY) in a doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.

Roadrunner Softball is currently ranked #6 in the NJCAA National Poll and hosts Lehigh-Carbon CC on Saturday, April 13.
