Region XIX Championship: Roadrunners Fall in Close Battle With Lehigh Carbon

Chelsey Morgan slammed a solo home run to lead off the top of seventh inning, snapping a tie, and lifting Lehigh Carbon to a 4-3 win over the Roadrunners to clinch the NJCAA Region XIX District F championship on Tuesday afternoon at Cumberland County College.

The win clinched the best of three series by a 2-1 margin for the Cougars, who advance to next weekend's NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

The Roadrunners had trailed by a 3-1 count entering the sixth inning before freshman Mackenzie Long tied it a 3-3 with a sharp two-run single to the outfield. Jackie Lesher also contributed an RBI earlier in the game while sophomores Christina Wilgus and Gia Cerminaro proved clutch throughout with two hits each.

Lesher took the loss for RCGC despite pitching a solid game. She surrendered four runs over seven innings, striking out two.

The loss concluded the Roadrunners' season at 30-15 overall.
