Roadrunner Women Stage Late Rally, But Passaic Prevails in GSAC Battle

Four players finished in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Roadrunner women's basketball dropped a tough 65-60 decision to visiting Passaic County Community College Thursday night in a key Garden State Athletic Conference battle.

Forward Nikita Acker led all RCSJ scorers with 17 points, followed by Katrina Harris-Hood (13), Trina Deveney-Bethea (12) and Syria Bass (10). Sabrina DeFreese (18) and Jada Camacho led the Panthers.

The Roadrunners fell behind at the outset by a 23-10 score and attempted to rally the rest of the way, coming up short in the final period.

Passaic, the GSAC Conference leader and No. 12 team in the latest NJCAA D-III National Rankings, improved to 20-1 overall and 17-1 in the conference while the Runners fell to 17-8 overall and 12-5 in the conference.

Next up for Coach Rich Cooper's Runners will be an away match at Bergen Community College on Saturday in a 12 noon start.
