Rather than dwell on a tough weekend loss on the road, freshman Ella Van Dine and the Roadrunner women's soccer team went right back to work Monday at home against talented GSAC and Region 19 rival Union County College in the regular-season finale. 

Van Dine scored the game's lone goal midway through the first half with an assist from Nikki Tricocci. Freshman goalkeeper Grace Vit was flawless in the nets as the Runners edged the Owls 1-0.

Coach Megan Ruttler's team suffered a devastating loss on the road at Sussex County on Saturday, but that defeat was all but forgotten Monday, said Van Dine.

"It was great that we could bounce back like we did to get a win against a good team," said Van Dine following the victory. "We had to put that loss out of our minds quickly, and we did."

The Region 19 playoff seedings are expected to be announced Wednesday, and the 11-2 Runners should nab a high seed.

"It felt good -- it puts us in a good spot for the playoff seedings," said Van Dine. "Hopefully we'll have a first-round playoff game."

The Runners' defense tightened up in the second half as did Grace Vit in goal, and the squad held on for the key victory.

The Women's Soccer team is back in action Monday with huge GSAC and Region match vs. Union County starting at 4 pm. This is final regular-season match for Fall 2021 season.

Coach Megan Ruttler's Roadrunners enter match with 10-2 overall record. The Runners edged the Owls in a September match by a 3-2 score at Union County.
