RCGC men's track standout Adam Hunt and women's stars Emily Hilt and Elisia Lancaster continued their sensational starts to the 2019 season at The Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University Friday and Saturday. .

Hunt followed that with a first place finish in the Men's Hammer throw with a toss of 53.30 meters. He added a seventh in the men's shot put with a toss of 13.08 meters to cap off a brilliant meet.

Sophomore Elisia Lancaster enjoyed a fine meet as well with a second in the women's discus and a fifth in the shot put. Sophomore Emily Hilt added a seventh im the women's discus, a 10th in the women's hammer, and a sixth in the women's shot put.

The weather definitely helped the teams at the Danny Curran invitational, where they returned home with 24 national qualifying performances and 2 new school records.  The meet featured extensive competition and some of the biggest fields to be faced all year.  In the team scoring, the men were an amazing 5th place in the 29 team field while the women were 16th against schools from all NCAA divisions.

Next Up:  The Roadrunners will compete in two locations as they continue to hone their skills for Nationals.  On Friday 4/5, the teams will travel down the road to Rowan University for the Oscar Moore Inv.  On Saturday 4/6, the teams will travel a little further south for the Towson Invitational at Towson University

Coach Hughes Comments on the Danny Curran Invitational Meet:

"With such a large field, and such a highly competitive meet, top places were very hard to come by and signified very impressive marks.  Some top 10 marks at the meet came from:  Mike Dowd placed 5th in the 3000m steeplechase, Derek Gatling II placed 7th in the long jump, Edgar Rosa placed 8th in the javelin and 5th in the discus, Elisia Lancaster placed 2nd in the discus and 5th in the shot put, Emily Hilt placed 7th in the discus and 6th in the shot put and 10th in the hammer throw.  The highlight of the meet was the performances by Adam Hunt.  He was the only event winner for RCGC, not once, but twice!  Adam won the discus with a throw of 49.82m and the hammer with a toss of 53.30m.  He also placed 7th in the shot put.  If both of Adam's winning performances weren't impressive enough given the fierceness of the competition at the meet, they were also both new school records!"
