NJCAA 2020-21 Update: RCSJ Volleyball Coach Rebecca Pierson Guides Team Through Schedule Changes

NJCAA 2020-21 Update: RCSJ Volleyball Coach Rebecca Pierson Guides Team Through Schedule Changes

Women's volleyball coach Rebecca Pierson feels her team has prepped well for the unprecedented schedule changes presented by the COVID-19 pandemic -- and she is confident her Roadrunners will continue to do so.

Following the recommendations from the NJCAA Presidential Advisory Council and the NJCAA Board of Regents, the NJCAA announced its adjusted plan of action for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year. Following the Board of Regents' vote on July 13, a majority of competition will be moved to the spring semester.

Roadrunner Volleyball will see its first competition of the year on January 29, 2021 with practices allowed to begin January 11th. Regional and National Championships are currently scheduled for April, but all schedules are subject to change.

"We have quite a few players returning plus some talented incoming players -- so far everyone continues to handle their workouts and training enthusiastically and on schedule," said Pierson, the head coach since 2016. "We expect that to continue. We have a dedicated group, and they want to extend the program's success."

Pierson's Roadrunners finished a superb 2019 campaign with a 13-5 overall record while sharing the Garden State Athletic Conference crown, a first in school history. They also competed for the Region XIX District 1 championship vs. Raritan Valley. And with a team loaded with many returning players, the Runners will look to continue their success in 2020-2021.
