Men's Tennis Upends Mercer CC

Roadrunner Men's Tennis evened their record at 2-2 with a road win on Friday over Mercer CC. The Roadrunners won 2 of the 3 doubles matches and then 4 of the 6 singles matches which were contested indoors due to off and on rain at the Mercer County Park Tennis Complex.

Sophomores Paulo Claure and JP Ciliberto set the tone with their 8-0 win at #2 doubles.

"JP and I played very well today in doubles," said Claure. "In order to do so we had to make sure to communicate, move, and be aggressive. I felt that we were very successful in doing so and are slowly becoming more comfortable with this relatively new approach of playing style in doubles." The Roadrunners have worked on improving the movement at the net as coaches Scott Henderson and Sean Sloane have made some adjustments since the first match in which the Roadrunners struggled in doubles play.

"I think the key for today was that we just relaxed and played our game," said Ciliberto. "This allowed us to have good movement and put points away quickly. As longs as we play like this through the rest of the season, I think we can do big things.

The Roadrunners will train this week before a big weekend of play that includes a home match on Friday against rival Brookdale CC and then a weekend tournament in Maryland.
