Sophomore Elisia Lancaster named USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field East Region Field Athlete of the Year

Sophomore Captain Elisia Lancaster was named the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association Indoor Track & Field East Region Field Athlete of the Year. Typically athletes are nominated by other coaches for this award but the USTFCCCA reached out and informed RCGC's coaching staff they would be nominating Elisia and for good reason. As the top NJCAA DIII thrower in the country, and amongst the best within the NCAA for the region, Elisia entered the 2019 indoor season having never competed in the weight throw. Despite this and having only a few practices to prepare, she quickly made an impression. In her first competition ever Elisia dominated a field made up entirely of NCAA schools and heaved the weight 17.40 m's (57' 1").  Elisia's toss not only won the meet, but was a NJCAA DI National Championship qualifying mark as the #3 furthest throw in the country as well as setting the new RCGC Indoor Women's Track & Field Weight Record. Elisia added to her indoor prowess adding another NJCAA DI National Championship Qualifying mark in the Shot Put with her 4th best throw ever of 12.63 m's (41' 5 1/4") reaching the 15th ranked position in the country.

Elisia and her teammate Emily Hilt finished the Indoor season as the only NJCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Throwers qualifying for the NJCAA DI National Championship.

Men's Track & Field Team member Adam Hunt was also nominated for Men's Field Regional Athlete of the Year as well as Coach Kalnas for Regional Asst. Coach of the Year
