Hobbs, Watson, Hunt Highlight Men's Track Outing at Towson invitational

Roadrunner Track and Field had a fun filled weekend of events as they competed in the Towson Invitational in Towson, MD. The weather turned out to be perfect for the second weekend in a row and definitely helped to spur some fine performances. Adding to the great weather was a highly competitive meet consisting of mostly NCAA DII and I schools helping to bring out the best in RCGC. The teams returned home with 21 NJCAA National Qualifying performances and another shattered school record.

In the team scoring, both teams finished in 12th place and as the top JUCO at the meet. Highlights and top 10 finishes on the track included:

Josh Hobbs (Woodbury) taking 10th in the long jump; in the 110 hurdles Glenn Abbott (Deptford) placed 4th while Devante Watson (Winslow) placed 7th; Watson also placed 8th in the 400m hurdles and was part of the 4x400m relay team that took home 8th place. Other members of the 4x400m relay were Hobbs, Mike Dowd (Williamstown) and Jaylen Hoover (Schalick).

Highlights and top 10 finishes in the field included:

In the shot put Emily Hilt (Kingsway) placed 6th while Elisia Lancaster (Delsea) finished 9th. Josh Varghese (Williamstown) placed 7th in the men's shot put. In the discus, Adam Hunt (Collingswood) placed 1st and was the lone event winner for the men. In the javelin throw, Emileigh Zane (Pennsville) placed 9th, Nicole Caramanna (Pitman) placed 10th and Enrique Santiago (Glassboro) placed 10th in the men's event. In the hammer throw, Adam Hunt placed 5th while on the women's side Elisa Lancaster put the nation on notice. She improved her personal best (and school record) on almost every throw, ending with a mark that shocked everyone and won the meet with a mark that betters the current NJCAA DIII national record, an amazing throw of 55.52m or 181' 2".

The Roadrunners also competed on Friday at the Oscar Moore Invitational at Rowan University with four national qualifying performances.
