Sophomores Adam Hunt and Edgar Rosa each won individual national championships Friday to boost the Roadrunner Men's Track team into the team lead after two days in the NJCAA Divsion III National Championships in Utica, NY.

"I'm very happy with how everuthing went in the discus and the last two days in general," said Hunt, who will compete in track at Rutgers University next season. "The team has looked great, and I have a lot of faith that we will continue to do well on our final day here at Nationals."

Rosa emerged as the national champion in the javelin despite a sprained ankle.

"I had injured the ankle during the discus, and I just tried to focus on finishing the event and getting through the pain, even though the pain was affecting my throws," said Rosa. "Same thing with the javelin -- there was a lot of pain so I just had to deal with it and get through everything."

Derek Gatling II took 3rd place in the long jump right before a storm delay at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Noah Cziryak claimed 4th in the 10,000m in torrential downpours.

After two days of competition, the Roadrunner men lead the team race with 69 points, with Harper College following in second place with 59 points.

In the NJCAA women's meet, Elisia Lancaster repeated as national champion in the discus, and Emily Hilt placed 5th. The women are in place heading into the final day tomorrow.
