Roadrunner Male Athlete of The Season -- Cross Country Star Mike Dowd
The Fall 2018 Men's Cross Country season proved to be an amazing one for second-year standout Mike Dowd, who literally reigned in every possible award a runner could win in the postseason.

The Dowd home will be crammed with several honors following Mike's amazing Fall 2018 season in which he captured the following:

  • RCGC's Male Athlete of the Fall Season, announced by the Roadrunner Athletic staff on Nov. 14th.
  • The NJCAA Region XIX Division III East Region Male Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
  • A second place finish and All-American honors (for the second time) during the NJCAA Division III National Championships in Westfield, MA.
  • The Region XIX individual championship at Clay Creek State Park in Delaware.
  • National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA this season, earning the award on October 8 and October 15.

Dowd -- who will commit to Wilmington University next Fall -- is also looking ahead to the Spring 2018 track season. He played a key role in the Runners winning a D-III National title last season and is looking forward to a possible repeat under the direction of coach Ryan Hughes.

"I've enjoyed being a member of the RCGC cross country and track programs," said Dowd. "Coach Hughes and his staff have helped me improve my mechanics and my training program -- and I feel I'm ready for the next level.

"Winning the national championship in track last spring and having the success we've had in cross country have been great experiences! I'm looking forward to the spring track season and then on to Wilmington."

Dowd will graduate RCGC in the spring with a degree in business administration and a focus on finance. He will continue in this academic program at Wilmington University.
