Roadrunner Female Athlete of the Season -- Soccer Star Megan Lord

Consistency has been the hallmark of Megan Lord's 2-year student athlete career at RCGC, so it was no surprise that the second-year women's soccer star earned one final accolade on Wednesday, Nov. 14, as her time concludes in a Roadrunner uniform.

For the second straight year, Megan was selected as Roadrunner Female Athlete of the Fall Season following another standout soccer campaign in which she led coach Megan Ruttler's team into the NJCAA Region XIX Division III playoffs.

"I've loved my time here at RCGC and being a member of Coach Ruttler's soccer program," Megan told the packed audience attending the Fall 2018 banquet. "We worked hard and displayed a lot of discipline as a team, but we also had a lot of fun together. I have some great teammates!"

Megan collected many honors the past two seasons while turning in some outstanding performances on the field. This included:

  • Earning First Team NJCAA Region XIX All-Star Honors for two years in succession as a midfielder.
  • Being selected as Region XIX Player of the Year in 2017.
  • Leading the Roadrunners to Region XIX playoff berths two years in a row while lifting the team into the National Championship Tournament playoffs in 2017.
  • Earning Junior College Female Athlete of the Year award from the CAANJ during her sophomore season.

From her midfielder position, Megan scored 12 goals and had 10 assists in 2018 while leading the nation in penalty kick conversions, scoring on all three PKs she took. She also posted three game-winning scores in the past season.  In 2017, she also enjoyed a banner season, with 19 goals and 15 assists for 53 points – 15th best in the nation. Those totals  included four game-winning goals.

Congrats to Megan on another outstanding season as a Roadrunner!
