Mackenzie Long collected 11 points, 5 digs, and 33 TAs to lead the Roadrunner women's volleyball team to a 3-0 triumph over visiting Cape Atlantic CC Thursday night.
Freshman Dominque Marcano, who posted 20 assists and 8 points, along with sophomore Taylor Caldas (16 TAs, 8.5 points) also contributed to the victory.

The Runners swept all three sets by scores of 25-24, 25-20, and 25-11.

Coach Rebecca Pierson's team won their second straight match and improved to 3-4 overall.

Next up will be a road trip to Union County College (0-2) in a 12 noon start.

Game Preview

The Roadrunner women's volleyball team has hopefully emerged out of a tough portion of their season, and will look to win two matches in a row when they host Atlantic Cape Community College Thursday night in a 6 pm start at the Roadrunner Athletic Complex.

Coach Rebecca Pierson's team scored a 3-0 win over Community College of Philadelphia Tuesday night at home, improving to 2-4 on the season. Following an opening night win over Lehigh Carbon, the Runners dropped four straight matches to several East Coast and regional powers.

"We have a young but very talented team -- and we knew our first stretch of games would be tough," said Pierson, a third-year coach. "We've played well despite the losses and we fully expect to start winning our share of matches."

The Runners, who competed in last season's Region XIX Tournament for the first time in school history, have received excellent player from freshman Katie Burrichter (Our Lady of Mercy Academy) and setter Dominque Marcano (Washington Township). Taylor Caldas, the lone sophomore on the roster, has also played well.
