Katie Burrichter, Women's Volleyball

Today we highlight freshman women's volleyball standout Katie Burrichter, who recently helped the program win its first-ever Garden State Athletic Conference championship and qualify for the NJCAA Region XIX DIII tournament. Katie has proven to be one of the top players at libero in Region XIX and the GSAC. See her profile below.

Year: Freshman

Position: Libero.

Hometown: Clayton, NJ.

High School: Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Class of 2019.

Statistics:  In 15 matches this Fall, Katie has compiled 81 total attacks, 29 kills, 230 digs, a .222 hitting percentage, and 40 aces. She has proven to be a reliable, steady influence in every match, whether the Roadrunners were ahead or behind at any given point.

Katie played four varsity volleyball seasons at Our Lady of Mercy Academy (OLMA) and served as team captain. She helped her program qualify twice for the NJSIAA playoffs. She had two sisters – Nicole (OLMA ’14) and Ashleigh (OLMA ’16) – who played before her at Our Lady of Mercy.

Major:  Undecided. Katie hopes to continue her education at a four-year school and play volleyball.

Hobbies/Favorite Activities on Campus: Going to library; hanging with friends; and attending classes.  Likes the Spiderman movies.

Katie Burrichter on Her Roadrunner Volleyball Success:  "We never played as teammates, but we had played against each other in high school and in traveling leagues," said Katie. "We got to know each other well pretty quickly -- turns out we have a great team!"

Coach Rebecca Pierson on Katie Burrichter: "She has amazing hustle and knows how to anticipate each play,” said Coach Pierson. “She’s great at predicting what opponents will do next - which takes experience and mental toughness. The coaches throughout the conference are always commenting what a great player Katie is – she plays up to the hype!”
