Roadrunner Baseball Erupts for 50 Runs in Three-Game Sweep of Brookdale CC to Clinch GSAC Crown!

Talk about the bats coming alive -- the Roadrunner Baseball team exploded on Region 19 rival Brookdale CC this past weekend in sweeping a decisive three-game series that allowed RCSJ to clinch the Garden State Athletic Conference championship.

In a battle of national NJCAA Division III powers, No. 2 ranked RCSJ erupted for 50 runs in the three-game set, winning by scores of 14-13 (Friday), 20-10 (Saturday) and 16-6 (Saturday)

"Our hitters are making progress and everything else is starting to fall in place," said Runners' Coach Rob Valli. "We hope we can keep this consistency going heading into the Region 19 playoffs."

In Saturday's 16-6 triumph, Roadrunner slugger Max D'Alessandro collected 3 hits, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored to lead the offensive assault. D'Alessandro launched a home run while catcher Andrew Lombardi belted a grand slam. First baseman Juan Peralta chipped in with two RBIs.

The Runners raced out to a 12-0 lead heading in the third inning and later a 16-2 advantage to seal the outcome early.

In the Game 1 win, a 20-10 triumph, the Runners held a commanding 8-0 lead and never looked back.

Next up for the Runners will be a road game at D I Monroe College on Wednesday, May 1, in a 12 noon start followed by a three-game set vs. Salem Community College May 3-4.
