Greg Chew enters his 20th season as the RCSJ pitching coach and third base coach. His coaching career began under the tutelage of Barry Davis from 1997-2000. During his tenure with Davis, Chew was instrumental in guiding the Roadrunners to four consecutive NJCAA World Series appearances. The pinnacle of this partnership was achieved with back-to-back national titles in 1999 and 2000.

In 2001, the Valli-Chew era commenced with Rob Valli taking the helm as head coach. Together, they propelled the Roadrunners to an impressive five consecutive NJCAA World Series appearances. The duo secured their first championship together in 2005, and, in a triumphant return, added another title in 2023.

Over the course of 20 seasons, Greg Chew has played a pivotal role in the Roadrunners' journey to 18 NJCAA World Series appearances and four national championship titles. His unwavering commitment to player development and team success is undeniable.

Greg Chew has earned a reputation as one of the top pitching coaches in the NJCAA. He has expertly molded 30 athletes into professional pitchers, while also guiding six pitchers to the esteemed status of All-Americans. His guidance extends even further, as a countless number of players have transitioned to four-year institutions under his watchful eye.

Greg Chew is no stranger to the Roadrunner community. He was once a player, suiting up for the 1994 team that made a deep run in the World Series. In his freshman season, Chew posted an impressive 9-1 record, earning the distinction of the 1994 Region Tournament MVP. His remarkable journey continued when he was drafted in the 42nd round by the Pittsburgh Pirates that summer. He spent two seasons in the A-ball with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, further solidifying his baseball prowess. Later, he embarked on a two-year journey in Independent ball, adding valuable experience to his coaching repertoire.

Greg Chew's dedication and coaching acumen were duly acknowledged when he was named the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association - National Assistant Coach of the Year. This accolade solidified his status as one of the finest in his field.
