Wareham Accepts Post at Holy Family University Following Successful Roadrunner Career

Will Wareham's stay as head coach of the Roadrunner men's basketball program was brief but highly successful. And now, his short tenure with Roadrunner Athletics has opened the door for Wareham's advancement to the next level in his collegiate coaching career.

Wareham will move on to Holy Family University's men's basketball program as an Associate Coach under Head Coach Ryan Haigh. Wareham will assist the Division II men's program with recruiting, scouting, and game-day management. At his new post, Wareham will now have scholarships available to recruit area athletes.

A Vineland resident, Wareham served as head coach for one season at RCGC, posting a remarkable 28-4 overall record highlighted by a Garden State Athletic Conference title, a spot in the Region XIX Final Four, and a No. 4 NJCAA Division III national ranking. The Roadrunners also cruised to a 17-game win streak during the regular season.

"The support I received at RCGC was great," said Wareham. "The administration was 100 percent behind the men's basketball program and what I wanted to accomplish as a head coach. Making the move to RCGC last season allowed me to tap into a larger recruiting area and helped us enjoy the success we had."

"Like anyone else when you are in this type of competitive profession, you always want to step up to the next level -- we all think about moving up at some point. And RCGC helped me reach that next level."

Wareham's success and new position at a four-year NCAA program does not surprise RCGC Executive Athletic Director Brian Rowan.

"We are sad to see Will go but very happy for him that he is able to make the move to a full-time position and we look forward to seeing what great things he will accomplish at Holy Family," said Rowan.

Prior to RCGC, Wareham coached three seasons at Cumberland County, where he guided the Dukes to two Region XIX playoff appearances and a 48-37 overall record. His best season was the 2017-18 campaign when the Dukes advanced to the NJCAA Region XIX D-III championship game, falling just short of upsetting Brookdale in the finals.
He was as an assistant coach at Gwynedd Mercy College, where he served as the team's lead recruiter and as head of player development. During his five-season tenure, he helped head coach John Baron's program compile a solid 78-31 record.

Wareham was a former high school standout at Lower Cape May through 1996, later graduating from Post University in Waterbury, CT.

He has 21 years of total service in the New Jersey Army National Guard, including 12 as a recruiter with the military service. He served in Iraq in 2003 and 2004.

The Roadrunners are actively seeking a new head coach for the program and an announcement could be coming before the end of June.
