Men's Basketball: Roadrunners Pick Up First Win in Coach Will Logan Era

Men's Basketball: Roadrunners Pick Up First Win in Coach Will Logan Era

Freshman guard Nick Sambour (Williamstown) fired in 15 points and sophomore forward Stan Martin (Willingboro) chipped in with 14 points to lift the Roadrunners mens team to their first win of the season, a 68-58 triumph over visiting Sussex County in RCSJ's home opener Saturday afternoon.

The win improved the Runners' overall record to 1-2 and was the first victory in the coaching career of new skipper Will Logan.

The Runners held a slim 37-32 halftime advantage but soared to a 14-point second half lead before closing out with the 10-point win.

"We're a brand new team and we're still getting to know each other," said Logan, who took over this season for former coach Will Wareham. "This was a nice win for our program, and hopefully we can continue the momentum."

Martin, the lone sophomore on the team, credits a solid week of practice as the key to the season's first win.

"We worked really hard this week in practice -- we know we have a lot of work to do and we've started making our adjustments," said Williams.

Logan's team has a busy schedule this week, with road games vs. Atlantic Cape Tuesday night and Passaic County Community College on Thursday evening.
