It all came down to a tough second half. The Roadrunner men's basketball team stood toe to toe with unbeaten Northampton Community in the first half, creeping to within two points prior to the break -- before the talented Spartans exploded to begin the second half in rolling to an easy 78-59 Region XIX win.

The visitors broke open a slim 33-31 halftime lead to take a commanding 52-36 advantage with 14 minutes remaining to put the outcome out of reach.

The Roadrunners (2-5 overall) did have three players hit double figures -- Guard/forward Stan Martin led the way with 21 points while teammates Danny Williams fired in 14 and Tim Schultice added 11.

The Spartans improved to 8-0 overall as they hope to emerge as the top team in Region XIX this season.

Next up for the Roadrunners will be a home game against RCSJ Cumberland Tuesday night in a 7 pm contest.

Game Preview

The Roadrunner men's basketball team will look for their second straight triumph when they host Northampton Community College in a 7 pm start Thursday night.

Guard Nick Sambour (Williamstown) led four players in double figures with 17 points to lead the Roadrunner men's Basketball team to an 81-64 road triumph over Salem Community College on Tuesday night.

Also hitting twin figures for coach Will Logan's team were Danny Williams (15 points), Tim Schultice (11) and Jeremy Flemming (10).

The Runners enter Thursday night's contest with a 2-4 overall record. They will face a tall task as the Spartans come in with a 7-0 overall record and 5-0 within Region XIX.
