Gantt Hits Game-Winner Again as Roadrunner Men's Basketball Edges Lehigh Carbon!

Freshman guard Shamar Gantt hit a game-winning shot for the second straight game, nailing a three-pointer with :03 remaining to lift the Roadrunner Men's Basketball team to a thrilling 59-56 win over visiting Lehigh Carbon CC Tuesday night.

The Runners led by 33-16 at halftime thanks to 17 combined points in the half from Joshua Randall and Anthony Colon. But Lehigh Carbon rallied in the second half to outscore RCSJ, 40-26, to move within striking distance of the win before Gantt took matters in his own hands. His shot broke a 56-56 tie with three ticks left on the clock.

"It's all about the momentum -- Lehigh Carbon caught the momentum and had us on the ropes," said Coach Brandon Williams. "But Shamar again was really confident in taking the ball late and putting up the big shot. He's worked hard and I'm not surprised at what he did."

Colon led the RCSJ scoring with 18 points while teammate Chris Racobaldo added 16 and proved to be a defensive force throughout the tough battle.

"Racabaldo has given us some amazing minutes and he's been stepping up the past few games," said Williams. "He's not the flashiest of players -- he just gets the job done, and that's what we need."

Coach Williams' team improved to 2-4 overall after opening the season with four straight losses. Ironically, Gantt registered a steal and breakaway layup in the closing minute of RCSJ's 59-56 triumph over Luzerne County this past weekend.

Next up for the Runners will be a home game vs. Ocean County College in the opening round of the Roadrunner Classic on Friday, Dec. 1 in a 7 pm tipoff.
