Roadrunner Men's and Women's Cross Country Emerge Victorious at Jersey Blues Invitational

Roadrunner Men's and Women's Cross Country Emerge Victorious at Jersey Blues Invitational

The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Region 19 rival Brookdale this past week and were able to face off against most of our local NJCAA competition.  The teams did amazingly well, with both coming home with team wins.

The women's team, currently ranked #8 in the latest NJCAA National Poll, was led by the duo of Gabby Szwed and Maddy O'Donnell who earned medals with their 8th and 9th place finishes respectively.  Next across the line for the Roadrunners was Grace Wahl, just missing a medal in 11th place with her fastest time of her career.  Wrapping up the scoring and sealing the win for the team were Francesca Maccarone and Georgia Lorenzetti with their 13th and 14th placings respectively.

The men's team, currently ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA National Poll, was led by CJ Gilmore running a perfectly planned race to take the individual win at the end and set a course record in the process.  Like the women, the men's team used a strategy of working together with teammates to help pull them along and seal a team victory.  Following CJ was the duo of Gavin Casella and Branden Lachowicz who placed 3rd and 4th to earn medals.  Next up was another duo of  Evan Bongard and Gary Schwegel placing 9th and 10th to also secure individual medals.  Flying in next to wrap up the flock of Roadrunners were Walker Osborne, Michael Thomas, and Kevin Profico placing 15th, 20th, and 22nd respectively.

Next up for both teams is the Highlander Invitational hosted by Cairn University.
