Blessing Leads Hitting Attack as Roadrunner Softball sweeps Suffolk in Strikeout Cancer Games! Photo Highlights!

Sophomore Flynn Blessing missed a key Florida road swing this season due to medical reasons -- but now the former Highland Regional High School standout is adding fire to the Roadrunners' lineup!

Aside from pulling through with a key walk-off game-winning hit vs. Monroe College on March 22, Flynn ignited the offense in a doubleheader sweep over visiting Suffolk CC on Sunday. In a 13-5 Game 1 win, Blessing erupted for 4 hits and 4 RBIs. In Game 2, she collected two more RBIs in an 8-1 triumph as the nationally ranked Runners improved to 12-6 overall.

The two wins were the highlight of the NFCA Strikeout Cancer Game that the two teams participated in, raising more than $2,000 for a worthy cause.

For the 2023 season, Blessing has turned in a sizzling .429 batting average.i"Flynn has been on fire, and it's crazy that she's kept up this pace ever since she returned to the lineup," said Coach Steve DePasquale. "She is a No. 8 hitter, and she's provided us with amazing production from that slot in the lineup."

Also providing a boost were pitchers Gemma Galloway and Janiece Robels. Robels pitched well in the opener vs. Suffolk as the Runners opened up a big lead and held on. Galloway earned the Game 2 win with a complete game performance to raise her record to an impressive 7-1 this spring.

"The pitching has been great, and Gemma especially is getting comfortable and mixing up her pitches well," said DePasquale. "We are playing solid defense well behind our pitchers too."

Next up is a home doubleheader vs. Sussex Community College this weekend. Watch for additional information.
