Roadrunner Athletics wishes outgoing Wrestling Coach Alex Reeves much success on his appointment as Assistant Wrestling Coach at Shenandoah University, an NCAA Division III school in Winchester Virginia.
At RCSJ, Reeves was hired prior to the 2021-22 season to take over head coaching duties following the retirement of former Coach Dan Antonelli. During this time span. he guided his teams to regular dual meet triumphs over top opponents while helping individual wrestlers such as Nick DiGiacomo qualify for Regional and National Championship competition. DiGiacomo went on to earn All-American honors during Reeves' first full season as head coach -- the Runners also captured the Garden State Athletic Conference title that winter.
"In coaching that was my biggest highlight," said Reeves. "I'll always cherish those accomplishments."
Reeves himself wrestled at 125 and 133 pounds while competing at Centenary College, where he graduated with a Business Marketing degree.
He then served as a long-time Assistant Coach and established himself as a trusted mentor to local South Jersey athletes in helping Antonelli build the Roadrunner program into one of the best on the East Coast.
At Shenandoah, Reeves will assist Head Coach Tim McGuire in building the SU program as a top-tier NCAA D III program. Reeves will have his hand in several job roles, including recruiting and running practices.
