Roadrunner Women's Soccer Continues Surge with Win Over Camden CC
When things start to click, they start to click. Hopefully, that's where the RCGC women's soccer team is at this late point in the 2018 season.

With Thursday's key 3-0 victory over Garden State and Region XIX rival Camden County College at Total Turf in Mantua, the Roadrunners continue to show why they are not to be counted out in the race to repeat as region champions.

The win, sparked by two goals from Kylie Guarente (G.C.I.T.) and one from Rebekah Mitchell (Woodstown), was the fourth straight for the Roadrunners to improve their record to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

"We're starting to know each other pretty well and we're clicking as a team," said second-year back McKenna Dowd. "We always knew we had the talent -- but you can only develop team chemistry by working together."

Behind the solid play of Josie O'Donnell (Holy Cross), Dehlia Fynes (Washington Twp.), Megan Lord (Glassboro), Angelina Mowad (Washington Twp.), and Dowd, the Runners raced to a 2-0 halftime lead before closing it out with a late second-half goal. Goalkeeper Michelle Salamoni (Washington Twp.) stopped 5 shots for the shutout.

"We've worked hard in practice and we're picking up on the coach's system," said Fynes, who is one of several Washington Township players on the roster. "I was teammates with a few of the players in high school, so we already know each other's tendencies."

Coach Megan Ruttler's team now looks ahead to a tough weekend in which they play on the road at Bergen County Saturday and at Fashion Institute of Technology on Sunday.

"We're improving all the time," said Ruttler. "The players have been aggressive in attacking our opponents, and hopefully we will continue capitalizing on opportunities."
