Novelli, Eiserman, Van Atter Lead Solid Effort as Roadrunner Volleyball Blanks Manor for First Win!

A first win is always a key milestone for any team, and that was certainly the case with the Roadrunner Volleyball squad Saturday afternoon as they blanked visiting Manor College, 3-0.

No one is surprised at how the Runners have improved during the young season, including coach Samantha Bevilacqua, newcomers Brooklyn Eiserman and Marissa Van Atter and sophomore Ashlee Novelli.

After playing well despite losing to traditional power Raritan Valley earlier in the week, the Runners clicked on all cylinders vs. Manor Saturday. RCSJ won all three sets by convincing scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-13. Play at the net proved to be crisp while serves and overall hits on the interior proved to be solid.

"The coaching staff had no doubt we would put it all together at some point," said Coach Bevilacqua. "These ladies have worked hard and they are coachable. They will continue to improve as we move forward. We're happy to see them enjoy some success."

The Runners began to gain momentum early, particularly after winning the first set handily,

"Once we had the upper hand, we knew we this was ours to win," said Novelli, a sophomore setter.
"Everyone rallied together and had each other's backs," added Van Atter, a freshman setter.

Eiserman, an outside hitter, was particularly solid at the net with total attacks, helping the Runners finish off the triumph with easy wins in the second and third sets.

Next up for the Runners is a match on the road Monday vs. Atlantic Cape Community College. Tip off is 7 pm.
