Fischer Sparks Roadrunners at Green Terror Duals

First-year wrestler Dylan Fischer recorded a pair of falls in dual meets against Gettysburg College and The University of Scranton to help the Roadrunners to a solid showing at the Green Terror Duals at McDaniel College.

The Runners battled to a respectable 1-2 team finish with a win over UMBC and close losses to D-III Gettysburg College and Scranton.

Early in the day, the Roadrunners overpowered UMBC 53-3. Jayson Peralta won by fall in his first bout as a Runner after recently certifying to enter the lineup at 197 pounds.

Against Gettysburg, Fischer -- a former West Deptford High standout -- and Anthony Pencook were winners by fall as RCGC moved out to an 18-16 lead. But the Bullets rallied to win the remaining matches for the 27-18 win.

Fischer also won by pin against University of Scranton to put Roadrunners ahead 15-14 in final match at Green Terror Duals. But Scranton dominated the upper weights and finished with a 27-15 victory.

The Roadrunners are off next week for holiday and return to action on December 1st.

Tournament Preview

Roadrunner Wrestling will be competing on Sunday at the Green Terror Duals hosted by McDaniel College. This is the first time the Roadrunners will be competing in this event. Head Coach Dan Antonelli expects to get his team a lot of experience early in the season and will face stiff competition.

11:00 AM RCGC vs. University of Maryland - Baltimore
12:30 PM RCGC vs. Gettysburg College
2:00 PM RCGC vs. University of Scranton

All three matches should be very interesting for our young Roadrunner squad. UMBC competes at the NCWA club level but boasts several talented wrestlers. Gettysburg is a very strong NCAA DIII program who are powered by a senior class that has won both of its early season tournaments. The University of Scranton is another NCAA DIII program that is off to a good start to their season recently winning 3 of 5 matches at the Electric City Duals.

McDaniel College is located in Westminster, MD.
