Freshman women's soccer star Leigh Swietanski (West Deptford) and sophomore men's soccer standojut Justin Phy were selected as the Athletes of the Season, it was announced during the annual Fall Sports Banquet on December 2.

Swietanski, the Female Athlete recipient, led the women's soccer team a Regkion XIX championship and a spot in the NJCAA Natiional Championship Tournament. She provided one of the most memorable goals in Roadrunner Athletics history when she scored the game winner with seconds remaining to secure a 1-0 win over Union County in the Region XIX title game in November. Leigh played a key role in helping coach Megan Ruttler's Runners overcome a 1-5 start to win a Region championship. Leigh was selected as Region XIX Player of the Year.

"Our team was so close all season long and we bonded together even though we had a tough start to the season," said Swietanski, am education major. "We're looking forward to even more success next season."

Phy came on strong to finish the season with 10 goals to lead the team to a 12-5-3 record and a spot in the Region IX semifinal. He earned All Region XIX First Team honors in both his freshman and sophomore seasons.

"This is quite an honor to win this award," said Phy following the banquet. "We had some ups and downs early in the season, and I'm proud of how we finished to go deep into the Region XIX tournament."

Madison Homan was also selected as Female Sportsmanship Recipient by the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She was the lone player on Coach Kelly Hernandez's women's tennis team this fall, and advanced to the Region XIX quarterfinaL round at No. 1 singles.
