GAME DAY: No. 2 Roadrunners Use Solid Pitching to Hold Off No. 4 Cumberland in Top 10 Battle

The pitching dominated action between nationally ranked RCSJ Gloucester and Cumberland as the Runners recorded a 3-1 victory at home Monday afternoon. Roadrunner hurlers Marcus Eusebio, Chris Widger and Jack Billings combined to hold Dukes to six hits and one run.

Eusebio, who struck out four and scattered four hits in five innings of work, was the winning pitcher, improving his record to 4-0. Billings earned his first save of the season.

Leftfielder Nick Nocella provided all of the offense the Runners would need with two hits and two RBIs. Centerfielder Eric Sabato also added a key RBI.

The Runners, No. 2 in the NJCAA Division III National Rankings, picked up their 13th straight win to improve their record to 14-1-1 overall. The No. 4 Dukes fell to 6-3 overall.

Next up for the Runners will be back to back games vs. nationally ranked Brookdale on Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Game Day Preview

The Roadrunner Baseball Team will host RCSJ Cumberland Monday afternoon, March 29, at 3:00 pm in a battle of NJCAA Division III Top 10 ranked teams.

The Runners, coached by Rob Valli, enter the contest as No. 2 in the nation, riding a 12-game win streak that included a doubleheader sweep over Union County this past weekend.

The Dukes begin the matchup No. 4 in the latest NJCAA D-III rankings with a 6-2 overall record.

Rowan Gloucester will count on a solid pitching staff led by Chris Widger and Marcus Eusebio, who sport a combined record of 5-0 overall and 0.000 earned run averages each.

First pitch will take place at 3:00 pm.
