Brezniak, Graeber Help Roadrunner Baseball Continue Hot Start in Sweep of Southern Maryland

Opening weekend proved to be successful for the No. 3 nationally ranked Roadrunner baseball team.

Coach Rob Valli's Runners remained unbeaten with a doubleheader sweep of host College of Southern Maryland, 9-0 in Game 1 and 15-5 in Game 2.

In Game 1, Rocko Brezniak knocked in three runs and had two hits while sophomore Aaron Graeber collected two hits to lift the Runners to the 9-0 triumph.

The Runners jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a three-run second inning, They extended the lead to 7-0 with four runs in the fourth inning.

Freshmen pitchers Tim Hartman and Lucas Hampel scattered two hits and combined for 12 strikeouts to keep the Hawks off the scoreboard.

In Game 2 the onslaught continued as the Runners exploded for 5 first-inning runs for a quick 5-0 lead en route to a 15-5 victory.

Chris Biolsi cracked a two-run homer and collected three hits while Aaron Graeber picked up three RBIs and Jimmy Bruno also knocked in two runs to spark the win.

Three pitchers -- Devin Sweeney, Ryan Widmeier, and Danny Kerr -- limited the Hawks to four total hits.
