Playoff Showdown: No. 4 Roadrunners Square Off vs. No. 5 Union in North Atlantic District Quarterfinal

Playoff Showdown: No. 4 Roadrunners Square Off vs. No. 5 Union in North Atlantic District Quarterfinal

Expect a classic confrontation Tuesday night when the No. 4 Roadrunner Men's Basketball team hosts No. 5 Union College in a North Atlantic District quarterfinal round showdown at the RAC in a 7:30 pm tip-off.

"This will be a battle to the finish given the results of our first two meetings with Union," said head coach Rich Casey. "They are a very talented team and we know we're in for a tough fight."

Casey, a first-year Roadrunner coach whose team finished with an impressive 21-7 regular season record, has a valid point. The Runners emerged with two close regular season wins over the Owls, 70-64 in late November and 60-59 in mid-January.

You can expect the same," said Casey. "The two teams match up well," he said. "Playing strong defense will be the key, and it could come down to a final shot."

The Runners will rely on the play of Region 19 All-Stars Quantavious Rogers, who averaged 12.9 points per game, and forward Eriq Campbell, who averaged 14.3 points per game. Coach Casey will also look for a solid performance from center Josh Randall, who averaged 12.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Should the Runners win, they will advance to play the winner of top seed Northampton vs. No. 9 Passaic.
