The RCGC track and field teams recently embarked on a journey they have not taken in 30 years... participation in an official indoor track season.  The teams have embraced this new opportunity as a chance to get the competitive juices flowing early following the most outstanding season in the programs history last year.  The defending national champion men's team and the national runner-up women's team sent a few individuals to the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College last weekend and came home with some impressive performances.

On the men's side, a group of sprinters took to the track to shake off some of the cobwebs from the Fall.  Nicolai Cachuela placed 41st in the 60m dash with a time of 8.19.  Herbert Sykes and Fidel Garcia-Corporan ran the 200m and finished in 25.03 (25th) and 25.50 (31st) respectively.  Fidel also doubled the distance by running the 400m in 56.08 to place 20th in that event.  In the field, 2x returning national champion Adam Hunt placed an impressive 4th with a heave of 13.90m, which was over a 3ft personal best; Adam had two throws within his series that would of won at last years national championship.

On the women's side, our throwing squad remains unbelievable!  Emily Hilt, a 3x All-American from last year, dominated the competition and placed won the shot put with a personal best and new school record toss of 13.12m.  This throw ranked her 9th in the nation out of ALL JUCO divisions and top 10 in New Jersey vs. all NCAA and NJCAA schools. Following close behind Emily's amazing performance was Elisia Lancaster with a toss of 11.77m to start her season with a 4th place finish.  Elisia was a 3x national champion last season, was named national athlete of the year and was also RCGC's female athlete of the year.

Next up, the RCGC Indoor squad will return to Ursinus for the Frank Covert Invitational
