Roadrunner Track and Field Excel at Salisbury University Despite Tough Weather Conditions

SALISBURY, MD -- The Roadrunner men's and women's track and field teams kicked off their 2024 campaign this past week at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet hosted by Salisbury University. Unfortunately, the teams faced very challenging conditions with torrential downpours and gusting winds. The weather caused the cancellation of several events and hindered performances, but the meet served its purpose of letting the Roadrunners shake off the 'rust' and getting rid of the nervousness before the rest of the season begins.

Despite the weather, the team was able to come home with the first three NJCAA National Qualifying performances from Joshua Washington and Kara Knorr. Josh was able to qualify in the 200m with his 6th place finish in 23.39.

Kara qualified in the discus with her 2nd place throw of 30.30m and in the javelin with her winning throw of 28.41m. Next up for the Roadrunners is a week off before the Towson Invitational on March 16th.
