RCGC's Mary Holden Madgey To Be Inducted Into Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame!

Roadrunner Athletics and the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame wish to congratulate newest inductee Mary Holden Madgey, a former standout softball player and coach for Gloucester County College who is now the head coach at Cherokee High School.

Madgey took over the reigns as Cherokee's varsity softball coach three seasons ago, and her Chiefs were among the top South Jersey teams once again in 2018. She has taught in the Lenape Regional School District at Cherokee High for 15 years.

She credits former Athletic Director Ron Case and long-time softball coach Steve DePasquale with helping her focus on a career path when she arrived at GCC from Clearview Regional High School. Following a stellar career at GCC in which she was named a Presidential Medallion Award winner in health and physical education, Mary completed her bachelor's degree at Rowan University before moving into teaching and coaching full time.

The current Cherokee skipper worked as an assistant under Steve DePasquale for five seasons before beginning her career as a high school coach. She later was enshrined in the Roadrunner Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010 thanks to an impressive run as both an athlete and coach. Madgey and her husband currently reside in Deptford Township and have four children, one of whom is a current student at RCGC.

Mary will be honored along with 12 other inductees on Tuesday, March 26 at Auletto Caterers in Almonesson. If wish to purchase tickets to the banquet, please contact Gus Ostrum at (609) 502-0424.
