Lesher Hurls No-Hitter, Murphy Leads Offense in Sweep of Camden CC

Sophomore pitcher Jaclyn Lesher tossed a no-hitter and her teammates backed her up with a five-run third inning to lift the Roadrunners to an 8-0 win over Camden County College in Game 1 of a doubleheader Tuesday at home.

The Roadrunners finished the sweep with an 18-5 victory in Game 2.

Lesher issued just two walks -- both to the same batter -- to highlight one of her top career performances. Her record now stands at 10-4 overall.

Centerfielder Kelsee Murphy and rightfielder Mackenzie Ponto collected two RBI's apiece to boost the offense.

In Game 2, Murphy produced an unusual day at the plate -- smashing three triples over the first three innings -- two in the first and one in the second -- as the Runners rolled to a triumph in five innings. Miranda Booras finished with four RBIs while teammates Lesher and Olivia Farina added two RBIs apiece.

Winning pitcher Gia Cerminaro went the distance, allowing three earned runs over five innings.

"We were really hitting the ball well," said coach Steve DePasquale. "When you have that kind of support at the plate, it gives the pitchers a lot of confidence to settle in and make their pitches."

The Roadrunners (17-9 overall, 6-2 conference) will host Ocean County College Thursday afternoon in a twinbill starting at 3:30 pm.
