RCSJ wrestlers Nick DiGiacomo and Jaden Roberts captured individual District titles during Saturday's NJCAA Gulf Atlantic District Wrestling Championships at Lackawanna College, helping the Roadrunners grab a runnerup finish in the team standings.
Nick DiGiacomo captured the 125-pound crown with a 17-8 major decision over Garret College's Nathan Pelesky! Congrats to Nick, a former Timber Creek High standout. DiGiacomo, the top seed, received a first-round bye before winning his semifinal match 20-8 over Camden County College's Jason Cruz.
DiGiacomo was named the tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Roberts won the 184-pound champoionship with a 9-5 decision over Union County College's Alex Dorce in the finals. Roberts advanced to the finals with a 6-3 win over Camden CC's John Stanton.
At 133 pounds, No. 5 seed Shamar Baines finished fourth overall, winning his consolation bout before dropping a close 13-12 decision to Stevens' Mason McClure in the third-place match.
At 149 pounds, RCSJ's Andrew Knorr placed fourth overall. He qualified for the third place bout following 6-0 win over Stevens' Saadiq Pabon-Williams in the consolation semifinals.
Teammate Justin Dougherty placed third overall at 165 pounds. He won his opening quarterfinal match at 165 pounds before falling in the semifinals.
At 174 pounds, Isaiah Cortes won his quarterfinal bout but lost in the semifinals. He placed fifth overall.
The Runners' Tion Cherry, the No. 2 seed, placed fourth overall at 197 pounds. He lost his semifinal bout later later captured his consolation semifinal over Lackawanna's Matthieu Raulerson.
In the team competition, the Runners finished as runnerup with 100.5 points behind co-champions Camden County College and Garrett College, who tied for the crown with 144.5 points each.

Tournament Preview
The RCSJ Gloucester Wrestling team will compete in Saturday's NJCAA Wrestling Gulf Atlantic District Championships at Lackawanna College in Scranton, PA.
The Garden State Athletic Conference champion Runners will be among 11 teams taking part in the competition. Among Coach Alex Reeves' top wrestler are sophomores Nick DiGiacomo (125 pounds) and Jaden Roberts (184 pounds).
