Stichler Scores Game-Winner as Runners' Women's Soccer Edges Middlesex College

Freshman midfielder Siearra Stichler scored her second goal of the season, and it proved to be the game winner as the Roadrunner Women's Soccer team edged visiting Middlesex College, 3-2, in a game played at Rutgers-Camden.

The win was the seventh in the last nine games for the Runners following an 0-2 start. Coach Maria Grady's team improved their season record to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the GSAC.

RCSJ held a 2-1 halftime lead and held off a Blue Colts' rally in the second half to claim the win.

Stichler's goal was the highight of some exceptional play by the team's midfielders, said long-time Assistant Coach Julie Chini. Freshman midfielder Kayleigh Shuff and sophomore center back Hailey Hartwyk were once again solid against Middlesex and helped make up for the absence of talented freshman midfielder Alana Stockdill who missed the game due to illness.

"These players have given us an amazing presence in the middle of the field throughout the season," said coach Chini. "They keep improving all the time and have been tough against all of our opponents."

Next up for the No, 9 nationally ranked Runners will be a home match vs. Suffolk CC in a 1 pm start.
