New Women's Soccer Coach Stephen Hart Is a Familiar Face to RCSJ Program Entering 2023 Season

New Women's Soccer Coach Stephen Hart Is a Familiar Face to RCSJ Program Entering 2023 Season

A familiar face will join the RCSJ Women's Soccer program as Stephen Hart prepares to assume head coaching duties for the Fall 2023 season.

Hart takes over the Roadrunner women's post following five successful seasons as RCSJ Men's Soccer Assistant Coach from 2017 through 2021 under Coach George Hobbins.

"We are really excited to have Coach Hart back in our program – the future is very bright for women's soccer here at RCSJ," said Brian Rowan, Executive Director of Athletics. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and is familiar with soccer in Region 19 which will help him and the team. This is a big win for our program!."

So exactly how will the transition to the RCSJ women's coaching staff differ from Hart's previous experience as an assistant in the men's program?

"Coaching on the men's staff was a great experience, and I learned a lot from Coach Hobbins on how to coach at the college level," said Hart, who had played under Hobbins at Camden County College. "I feel like I'm coming home to family.

"As far as moving over to the women's program is concerned, I don't see any difference. We will do everything possible to teach the players the right way to play the game."

A former star at Lawrence High School, Hart played collegiate ball under Hobbins while at Camden County College. Hart also played at Brookdale Community College for 1 year.

Hart possesses over 15 years of coaching experience working with players of all levels, from recreation players to U.S. National Team players, and he has a proven track record in helping players achieve individual and team success.

Since 2016, Hart has been the Owner and Director of the Jersey South FC, as his club promotes a positive training environment that encourages players to reach their full potential. He also currently serves as Director of Coaching and Player Development for Delran FC.

Hart will begin the season with the help of two assistant coaches, Leigh Swietanski and Kenyatta Collins, along with a veteran roster. The Runners earned a berth in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament last season, finishing with an 11-5 record, including a win in the national tournament.

"Coaching the women's team will be a challenge, and I'm excited for the opportunity," said Coach Hart. "I know the program has always enjoyed a lot of success, and that speaks for itself. I expect that we will continue on that path."
