Roadrunner Baseball Sweeps St. Patrick's Day Doubleheader vs. Lehigh-Carbon CC

Anthony Capasso scattered four hits and struck out three in 4 2/3 innings of work to earn the win as the Roadrunner baseball team handed Lehigh-Carbon its first loss of the season, 16-3, in the opener of a doubleheader on Sunday at home.

Capasso surrendered no earned runs in his stint on the mound. Jake Korobellis finished up in relief. The Runners scored four in the first inning and built an 11-0 lead after three innings of play.

Ryan Murphy cracked a home run and had three hits and three RBIs on the day to lead the RCGC hitting attack. Lorenzo Morello, Alex Gattinelli and Anthony Angelino chipped in with two RBIs apiece.

Coach Rob Valli's team captured Game 2 by a 19-9 score, breaking open a close 7-6 lead with 12 late runs. In their last six games the Runners have scored a whopping 101 runs.

In Game 2, the Runners quickly fell behind 6-0 in the top of the first inning, but battled back to move in front 7-6 at the end of the bottom of the second inning. RCGC added six more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend the lead to 13-7.

Lorenzo Morello and Jose Correa knocked in three runs each in a winning effort.

The Runners improved their overall record to 8-1. They host Rowan Burlington on Tuesday afternoon with a 3 pm first pitch.

Roadrunner Baseball (6-1) hosts Lehigh-Carbon CC (6-0) on Sunday in a St. Patrick's Day special doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 12noon.

Games are scheduled for 7-inning apiece.
