Roadrunners Rally Past Rowan-Burlington, Eye Key Matchup vs. Cumberland Thursday

Roadrunners' baseball coach Rob Valli knows he can always count on a well-rounded pitching staff. That's exactly what his winning formula proved to be when the Runners squared off against red-hot Rowan-Burlington on Tuesday at home.

Starter Mike Biasiello hurlrf five strong innings, allowing two runs and two hits, while relief pitcher Joe Marino earned the save with seven strikeouts over the final four innings to lift the home team to a 5-2 triumph over the Barrons.

The win enabled the Runners to snap Rowan Burlington's six-game win streak while extending their own consecutive win mark to nine.

The game was a battle all the way as RCBC scored two in the top of the second for a 2-0 lead before the Runners added three in the third and one each in the sixth and seventh to grab the win.

The Runners could only manage four hits themselves, led by Lorenzo Morello, Jake Catalano and Alex Gattinelli from the top of their lineup. Rightfielder Ryan Murphy scored a pair of runs while rightfielder Anthony Angelino picked up a hit in three at bats.

The Runners, No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division III national rankings, eye a huge matchup Thursday at home againbst No. 2 Cumberland in a 3:30 start.
